A longtime advocate for the Latino voice in American Letters, Rich Villar is a poet, essayist, educator and performer. His first book, Comprehending Forever (Willow Book, 2014), was a finalist for the International Latino Book Award and he is at work on a second book as well as developing a one-man show. Villar serves as Artistic Director and faculty for La Sopa NYC, a grassroots writing program for artists in underserved communities. He is a frequent performer at iconic Nuyorican Poets Cafe and has curated for La Casita At Lincoln Center Out of Doors, appearing twice as the show’s emcee.
